Lady with voluminous hair

Psst! Check out AI Apple-mint Bounce & Control Shampoo

Fine hair may be the hair goal of a thousand and one people, but when it grows from an oily scalp and stays limp no matter how beautifully you style it, it stresses you out.

To enhance the long-lasting bounciness of your hair, we turned to AI to recommend ingredients. These ingredients are known for their ability to add volume and improve hair texture over time.

Here's a refined formula:

Core Ingredients

Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (SLSA)

Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate, or SLSa, plays the role of a mild yet effective cleanser in shampoos. This ingredient is a surfactant, meaning it works to break down oils and dirt, allowing them to be rinsed away, leaving the hair clean and fresh.

Unlike its cousin Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), which we never use in our shampoos, SLSa is known for being gentler on the scalp and hair, minimizing the risk of irritation while still providing that satisfying lather and thorough cleanse.

The result? A refreshing and gentle cleansing experience that leaves your locks feeling revitalized and free of grime, without stripping them of their natural goodness!

Cocamidopropyl betaine

This ingredient is also recommended for the Banana & Peanut Bliss Exfoliating Shampoo, because it creates a luxurious lather without compromising gentleness.

Derived from coconut oil, cocamidopropyl betaine

steps up to the plate to boost foam and create that satisfying, rich lather we all adore.

In addition, it cleanses the hair and scalp gently, whisking away dirt and oils while ensuring the hair's natural moisture remains unscathed.

Peppermint essential oil

Peppermint oil is a whiff of fresh air for the scalp, bringing along a cooling sensation that feels like a gentle, invigorating breeze.

Rich in menthol, it interacts with the cold-sensitive receptors in the skin, which is why, when it graces the scalp, it leaves a refreshing chill in its wake.

This aromatic oil is also renowned for its calming and soothing properties, addressing irritation and leaving the scalp feeling comforted and revitalized.

Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5)

Panthenol finds its way into many shampoo formulas, even those for colored hair, like the Pomegranate Color-Protective Shampoo.

Also known as provitamin B5, when incorporated into shampoo, panthenol acts as a moisturizer and lubricating compound. It enhances hair texture by coating the hair shaft, sealing in moisture and adding pliability, which reduces the chances of hair breakage and tangling.

The moisture-sealing quality of panthenol results in an increase in shine and gloss, giving the hair a healthier appearance. Additionally, panthenol can help to improve hair elasticity and manageability, contributing to the overall health and aesthetics of the hair.

Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil, derived from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia plant, is a crucial ingredient in shampoos for its antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties.

When incorporated into shampoo, tea tree oil helps in treating various scalp conditions, such as dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and scalp acne, by eliminating the bacteria or fungi causing the issues and reducing inflammation.

Additionally, it helps unclog hair follicles and nourish roots, potentially aiding in hair growth and preventing hair loss. The soothing properties of tea tree oil can alleviate scalp irritation, making it a versatile and valuable component in promoting scalp health and maintaining clean, healthy hair.

Hydrolyzed rice protein

Hydrolyzed rice protein, derived from rice bran, is an effective ingredient for treating fine, limp, and oily hair. It provides essential amino acids that help in strengthening and volumizing the hair strands, thereby adding body and fullness to fine, limp hair.

Additionally, it aids in moisture retention, balancing the hydration level of the scalp and hair without adding excess weight or oiliness.

This protein also helps repair damaged hair cuticles and improves hair elasticity.  When hair is more elastic, it's stronger, more resilient, and less prone to breakage. It even looks healthier, more voluminous, and revitalized.

Biopolymer

Sugar-based biopolymers hold significant promise for transforming fine, limp hair into a more voluminous and resilient mane.

For instance, cellulose, a highly versatile biopolymer, imparts notable thickening and anti-static properties, offering a discernible lift and body to the hair.

Similarly, xanthan gum, renowned for its exceptional viscosity-building capabilities, can create a favorable texture and enhance the hair’s overall feel and appearance.

Additionally, hyaluronic acid, recognized for its outstanding hydrating properties, assists in maintaining optimal moisture levels in the hair, contributing to increased suppleness and bounce without weighing it down.

Furthermore, chitosan is celebrated for its film-forming ability, providing a protective barrier around hair strands, thereby increasing strength and resilience.

Together, these sugar-based biopolymers serve as invaluable ingredients, effectively addressing the challenges associated with fine, limp hair and significantly improving its volume, texture, and vitality.

Apple oil

Rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and essential fatty acids, apple oil nourishes the scalp and hair, contributing to enhanced moisture retention and improved texture. It imparts a natural shine to the hair and helps in taming frizz, making hair more manageable and smooth.

Apple extract

Similarly, apple extract, being a rich source of procyanidin B-2, a natural compound, has been associated with promoting hair growth and improving overall hair health.

Additionally, the inherent acidity of apples helps in maintaining the scalp’s pH balance, potentially reducing dandruff and scalp irritation.

Fragrance Notes

The fragrance notes of an apple-mint shampoo typically create a harmonious and refreshing sensory experience reminiscent of orchard freshness.

The top notes are characterized by a crisp and zesty burst of green apple, often mingled with hints of peppermint or other fruity accents, invoking an immediate sense of rejuvenation.

The middle or heart notes usually comprise a sweeter, juicier apple aroma, potentially complemented by subtle mint undertones, adding a layer of complexity and warmth to the fragrance profile.

The base notes often incorporate a blend of musk, amber, or woody scents, grounding the fragrance with a subtle, enduring richness and ensuring a lasting, balanced apple scent that lingers in the hair, encapsulating the essence of fresh, ripe apples.
